MyClassroomRegistry

Project: MyClassroomRegistry

Objective/Goal: MyClassroomRegistry (MCR) was developed to facilitate direct classroom support through monthly micro-contributions, allowing K-12 teachers to receive funds exclusively for purchasing educational materials from the Scholastic online teacher store. The primary aim was to empower teachers by simplifying the process of collecting, consolidating, and utilizing funds for classroom supplies.

Role and Responsibilities: As the lead in product and website development, I focused on creating user flows, collaborating closely with developers using Jira to ensure seamless functionality. I spearheaded the integration of diverse registration functionalities, categorized under different organizational orientations, titles, and user-specific functionalities, aligning with the platform's goal of aiding educational institutions.

Collaborations: Collaborated extensively with educational institutions, including K-12 schools, early childhood centers, and not-for-profit organizations, to develop a seamless and user-friendly platform. Worked closely with FACE (an organization), integrating its branding into the institutional version, creating a more cohesive and impactful user experience.

Strategies Implemented:

  • Integrated diverse registration functionalities catering to various institutional representatives and educational entities.

  • Developed personalized registries with categorized classroom needs and facilitated contributor invitations via local businesses, donors, and community members.

  • Enabled recipient post-contribution payment functionalities and diverse forms of contributor payment, such as ACH and credit/debit card options.

  • Implemented communication channels to showcase how contributions were spent and their impact, fostering transparency.

Key Deliverable: Successfully launched a functional platform allowing teachers to personalize classroom registries, invite contributors, receive funds, and make purchases exclusively from the Scholastic teacher store, ensuring direct delivery of supplies to the schools.

Results and Achievements: Developed and launched a comprehensive platform empowering teachers to receive direct support for classroom needs. Established an efficient process for funds' collection, consolidation, and utilization, resulting in improved access to necessary educational materials for teachers and students.

Tools and Technologies Used: Leveraged a suite of technologies including Jira for project management, Squarespace for web development, and integrated Google API functionalities for community mapping. Implemented payment integrations such as ACH and credit/debit cards, ensuring diverse and secure payment options for contributors.

Analytics and Testing: Conducted beta testing with incentives, ensuring smooth registration processes and user-friendly functionalities. Incorporated step-by-step guidance for teachers in setting up their profiles and classroom registries, providing a user-centric experience.

Future Development: Segmented each section of the site to demonstrate contributors' and teachers' perspectives, emphasizing ease of use and seamless functionality for both user groups. Planned future modules for enhanced support, registration, and dashboard functionalities to further streamline the user experience.
